Nordmende stereo radio 'Murphy A-859 Spectra Futura' 1967
Raymond Loewy for Nordmende stereo radio 'Murphy A-859 Spectra Futura' 1967. This one A-859, with attached stereo speakers was designed for the English market. There was also a mono version A-858 or the A-860 with separate speakers.
French born American Raymond Loewy is named 'the father of Industrial Design' Among many things he designed the 'Coca Cola' bottle as we know it, the 'Shell oil' logo we still use up to now, 'Airforce One' plane for the American presidents, 'Exxon' logo, 'Greyhound' bus, 'Lucky Strike' logo, 'Studebaker Avanti', 'Champion sparkplug' logo, BP logo, Quaker logo, etc.etc. Further more he designed for NASA and.....'Radio N. Mende GmbH' a.k.a. 'Nordmende'
This example here is working perfect, plays, all lights are working, but it is sold 'as is'. These radio's need TLC and a check up for regular use. I can send a video where it can be seen playing music.
It is not mint but the front is in excellent condition. The acrylic front is without damage. The plywood case is in good condition but has some paint missing here and there. Just normal wear and tear.
